Introduction to the project:

1. The total area of the station is approximately 239 thousand square meters, equivalent to 57 acres. The project includes the main station building on an area of 31 thousand square meters, with a total building area of 112 thousand square meters, and the station’s facilities, including service buildings, maintenance workshops, and platforms, as well as railway lines on an area of 164 thousand square meters and investment buildings on an area of 44 thousand square meters, where the station’s passenger capacity is expected to reach 250 thousand passengers per day.

1. When choosing the location of the station, it was taken into account that it is located in between the Ramses and Giza railway stations and that it is located in the Giza Governorate, which is considered a gateway to Upper Egypt, as well as its being a meeting point for the main railway lines in Egypt (The High Dam / Alexandria - Imbaba / Al-Manashy / Al-Qabbari). It is also located on 4 main axes that facilitate the transfer of traffic to and from it (General Kamal Amer axis / Sudan Street / Ahmed Orabi axis and Airport Street - July 26 axis), pointing out that the location of the station is strategic, linking the station with various means of transportation (railways - the third metro line - monorail - Frequent buses on the ring road) to serve the passenger public.

1. The main station building consists of a basement, a garage, a ground floor, and 2 additional floors. The building includes (4) platforms to serve Upper Egypt passengers on 6 lines, including two lines for Aswan/Alexandria, two shunting lines, and two lines for trains terminating at the station and coming from Upper Egypt.

1. There is a basement in the main building, which will be used as a garage that can accommodate 250 vehicles, in addition to a planned garage below the residential, commercial and administrative area that can accommodate 500 vehicles, and another multi-floor garage planned in the airport area to serve passengers. It will also be used as a bus stop that can accommodate 1,000 cars.

1. The ground floor includes a commercial part within an integrated commercial mall on the first and second floors, and administrative spaces on the ground floor for the station employees, in addition to 28 ticket windows, as well as restrooms and the glass pyramid area in the main lobby of the station, which is 40 meters high and there are 4 obelisks inside it.

1. The first and second floors of the station include commercial stores and investment areas.

1. The project includes the construction of (3) platforms with (4) railway lines for Al-Manashy line, the construction of the tracks of the station yards, and the connection of workshop tracks to the main tracks (Aswan/ Alexandria - Al-Manashy- Freight), where the total length of the railway tracks in the station is 22 km with 89 switches.

1. The implementation works of various workshops are ongoing, such as the workshop for the coaches’ maintenance, which includes 12 tracks, and the workshop for the locomotives’ maintenance, which includes 6 tracks for the maintenance and preparation works of locomotives.

1. (2) car tunnels and a pedestrian tunnel are being implemented to enter and exit from the Lieutenant General Kamal Amer axis and to connect the station garage to the axis, and (2) car tunnels towards Sudan Street, and a pedestrian tunnel to connect the street to the station garage.

1. The station provides distinctive services to the passengers which will be huge intermediate smart station with a Pharaonic character and with world class services. It contains indicative screens for passengers , electronic tickets gates, TVM and security cameras. It is air conditioned station on all its floors and has Wi-Fi service. It will include a fire and alarm service.

1. The project was provided from the beginning of its implementation 7500 job opportunities until now.

Percentage of project’s achievement:

• The main station’s work has been completed by 95%
• Tunnel work from the direction of El Sudan street has been completed by 98%
• Locomotives workshops work has been completed by 97%
• Coaches workshops work has been completed by 95%
• Railways work has been completed by 90%
• “Lieutenant General Kamal Amer” Axis work has been completed by 98%
