The Minister of Transport Announces the Arrival of 19 New Passenger Railway Coaches to Alexandria Port

Within the framework of the political leadership directives to comprehensively develop the railways system - the Minister of Transport announces the arrival of 19 new passenger railway coaches to Alexandria Port, bringing the total number of the coaches that have reached so far to 227 coaches as part of the deal of manufacturing and supplying 1300 new passenger coaches.

Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, announced the arrival of a new batch of the new railway passenger coaches; totally 19 coaches, to Alexandria Port, as part of the deal of manufacturing and supplying 1300 new passenger coaches, which is considered the largest and greatest deal in ENR’s history, which was signed by ENR and the Russian Transmash Company, representing the Russian-Hungarian Consortium, for one billion, 16 million and 50 thousand euros.

The Minister of Transport indicated that the 19 delivered coaches are third-class coaches with dynamic ventilation, bringing the total number of the coaches that have reached so far to 227 coaches, after which the rest of the coaches will arrive through batches according to the specified schedule, indicating that the deal for 1300 new passengers coaches includes 800 air-conditioned coaches (500 third-class A/C coaches, a new service that is provided for passengers for the first time in ENR’s history, 180 luxurious second-class luxury, 90 luxurious first-class coaches and 30 A/C buffet coaches) and 500 third-class coaches with dynamic ventilation.

The minister has additionally mentioned that this deal is one of the fruits of the huge contracts that were made based on the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to develop the transport sector, including the railway sector, and to provide all capabilities for improving the sector according to the latest global technological systems, pointing out that the deal contributes to raising the efficiency of the daily operation and punctuality of operation schedules.
